Lilac hydrosol is a super simple process to preserve one of spring's favourite floral gifts.

Simply gather a bunch of freshly cut lilacs.
Pluck the flowers from the stems and place them in a large pot on the stove.
Add water. You’ll want about 10 parts water to 1 part botanicals.
Balance a colander on the pot rim and then place a glass container in the middle of the colander.
Place a curved pot lid upside down on the pot. You can also place a bag of ice on the lid to help the condensation process.
The condensation from the steam will collect and drip from the pot lid into the glass container. This is your flower essence!
Simmer and collect the water for approximately one hour.
Remove the collection glass and let cool.
Transfer the flower water to a spray bottle and enjoy!
