The Antioxidant King

Antioxidants are the tools nature provides us to slow down our aging. Just like a piece of metal rusts, your cells essentially do the same through the process of “oxidation,” antioxidants are the key to drastically slowing down that process.

While many other plants and fruits have been made famous for their levels of antioxidants, nothing comes even close to Chaga.
Here’s why…

In terms of Antioxidants, Chaga is:

  • 39X stronger than acai berries
  • 72X stronger than cacao
  • 416X more powerful than blueberries

Take a look at the graph below to see how Chaga compares to other natural sources of antioxidants!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Chaga Safe?

Yes, chaga is a natural health supplement that is safe for everyone including children and even pets!

If you’re on prescription medication, it’s a good idea to consult your physician before consuming chaga.

Do be aware that chaga may interact with antidiabetic and anticoagulant drugs.

Chaga should also not be taken with penicillin or intravenous injections of glucose.

These are the only significant side effects have been noted.

Why is Wild Remedies Chaga considered "Premium"?

Wild chaga contains considerably more nutrients and is the only form that contains chromogenic complex – a set of humic acids and melanin which are responsible for the very high amount of antioxidants only found in chaga.

Wild Remedies Chaga is 100% wild grown and hand picked from live birch trees in the forests of Siberia.

Raw Chaga Chunks

Chaga can be consumed by steeping raw chunks of the mushroom for 8-12 hours. This is great for making large quantities of tea, however raw chaga possess only 15-18% of the Chromogenic complex.

Chaga can also be purchased as a form of tea or capsules – where raw chaga is ground into powder and consumed by steeping in water or swallowing in capsule form. This form contains the same chromogenic complex as regular raw chaga.

Chaga in tincture form is manufactured by grinding raw chaga to developing a liquid extraction with alcohol. This makes a longer lasting chaga product with a similar chromogenic complex to the raw and powdered chaga.

More nutrients can be drawn from the chaga mushroom through an extraction process which creates a fine, highly concentrated “instant coffee” type powder that melts easily into water, smoothies, or other recipes.

Some suppliers use chemicals during the extraction process, however staying true to our commitment to providing only the best quality, natural product, Wild Remedies Chaga is extracted by a hot water process.

Non-extracted products are mostly indigestible (= low bioavailability) and can never deliver therapeutically useful levels of the active ingredients.

Good chaga extract should contain a minimum of of 40% chromogenic complex.

Wild Remedies chaga extract contains slightly over 57% chromogenic complex, which is the highest concentration currently available.

Does Chaga cure serious diseases like cancer?

Wild Remedies Chaga Extract is neither a drug nor medicine and is classified as a dietary food supplement.

It is has been reported that Chaga makes a remarkably effective remedy when used in the treatment cancer, since it contains a high amount of an active anti-tumour chemical called Inotodiol. Other known active ingredients include Betulin and Lupeol, also found in Birch and other kinds of tree bark, which was used by Native Americans to treat such things as Insect Bites, Skin Irritations, Tumours, Lymphatic disorders and Tuberculosis.

It’s noted that Chaga’s Polysaccharide and Chromogenic Complex content help to rid the body of Free Radicals. Chaga has also been shown to have antiviral properties that are used in the fight against HIV as well as in the treatment of chronic inflammation of stomach, stomach ulcers, and diseases of Duodenum, Liver and Spleen.

In the 1950’s the Russian Leningrad Botanical Institute, developed a tonic called Befungin (a mixture of Chaga extract and cobalt salts) which was and still is used as a prophylactic, to treat ulcers and gastritis, as a treatment during the early stages of cancer and to battle the side effects of standard anti-cancer treatments such as chemotherapy.

Chaga has been found to have a favorable effect on the central nervous system and metabolic processes, and boosts immunity to infections. Tea preparations were found to greatly alleviate the suffering in cancer patients by relieving pain and improving appetite.

Please Note: Wild Remedies makes no medicinal claims about chaga, but does indorse the natural health benefits that thousands of people have experienced.

Numerous studies have been conducted regarding the effects of chaga. Check out these links for more in-depth information:

Will Chaga make me look younger?

Oxidative stress plays a central role in aging at the cellular level. (Masaki 2010). It breaks down protein (collagen), alters cellular renewal cycles, damages DNA, and promotes the release of pro-inflammatory mediators (cytokines), which trigger the generation of inflammatory skin diseases. It is also established that free radicals participate in the pathogenesis of allergic reactions in the skin (Burke 2009; Fisher 2009; Pascucci 2010; Massaki 2010; Rock 2011).

ANTIoxidants fight the oxidation process and combat free radicals that cause the skin and body to age, as well as protect against oxidative diseases such as cancer.

The bioactives responsible for antioxidant action are in particular polyphenols and natural phenols. In Chaga these are mainly found in the black outside of the fungus, the sclerotium. This sclerotium contains massive amounts of the natural black pigment known as melanin, which has a high antioxidant potential.

Because Chaga is one of the highest known natural sources of antioxidants, it has the ability to neutralize oxidative stress, fix and prevent DNA damage caused by free radicals, provide geno-protective qualities, and protect against the damaging effects of ultraviolet radiation (like in sunlight) and gamma radiation.

Wild Remedies Chaga Extract includes the sclerotium (the black outside layer) of the Chaga mushroom. This is important, because this part contains a massive amount of a specific fungi-melanin, our Chaga a very high level of antioxidants and turning Chaga into powerful anti-aging tool.

Is harvesting wild Chaga sustainable?

Where we source it from – yes.

Russian sources state that 1 – 20% of birch trees in Russia show signs of hosting Chaga.

An extensive study concluded that Chaga resources in Russia are so immense, that even under the most pessimistic estimates, chaga will likely never be biologically threatened. (source)

However, because Chaga’s biological properties are being investigated for immunological-enhancing and anti-cancer properties, the world market for Chaga is expanding. As harvesters will need to go deeper into the forest to collect Chaga, the price of the medicinal mushroom could rise substantially.

What does Chaga taste like?

Chaga itself is very mild in flavour. In contains natural vanillin flavenoids which gives it a bit of vanilla flavour.

Wild Remedies Chaga is infused with Organic Ceylon Cinnamon. Basically it’s like Christmas in a cup! <3

Does Chaga contain caffeine?

No. Chaga has a similar appearance to coffee but does not contain any caffeine.

Chaga does however, naturally promote higher energy levels.
